Sa'di in the Hierarchy of Fatayan

Author

Abstract

The present paper argues that Sa'di, the great Iranian poet and writer of the seventh century, was not only an expert in literature but also a member of the society of gallants and a part of the Saqä's group in this society. The paper also shows that he was a leading authority with his own unique styles of conduct. Even though the cited documents may not be historically verifiable, the paper suggests links between Sa'di and Shiykh Shahab Al-Ddin. It does not seem illogical that Sa'di became a member of Saqqayan because of their links with those who praised the family and companions of the Holy prophet. The evidence presented here about Sa'di's wealth indicates that his membership was not occupational.
