Abstract
Knowledge and acquaintance are the fundamental pillars and the ultimate aim in mystical thought. The Islamic- Iranian Sufism with the use of original intellectual and cultural sources along with its own mystical language has always been an appropriate context for the emergence and creation of various epistemic concepts. Sagacity is one of the cases to which suffists assign a high epistemic level. That is why sagacity, among other other features assigned to suffists, finds a unique status. However, the most important intrinsic property of sagacity is its sense of knowledge. It seems that there is a scarcity of research in this area. In this study, by analyzing and semantic separation of the term sagacity as well as investigating its roots and definitions in the mystical language, we have tried to present epistemic dimensions and various aspects of awareness in the Islamic mysticism view. For this purpose, the link between sagacity and some terms and concepts related to knowledge such as certainty, insight, the God-given knowledge, light, thought, the Forqan (the distinction between the truth and falsehood) as well as different kinds of mystical experience is analysed in a coherent manner based on genuine sources in the realm of mystical literature.
