Abstract
Hojviri’s Kashf al-Mahjūb is one of the oldest Persian mystical books, that has always been important from various aspects, especially for teaching of the mystical principles, and the attention to this work is greatly influenced by the author's power to persuasion the audience. The present article has been written to study the methods of persuasion of the audience in Hojviri’s Kashf al-Mahjūb based on rhetorical criticism and in a qualitative method using descriptive-analytical method and tries to answer these questions: What methods did Hojviri use to persuade the audience? And what factor has influenced the persuasion of the readers of Kashf al-Mahjūb? The results show that Hojviri uses methods such as presenting moral and human content, using familiar language, two-way and interactive style, reasoning, allusion and citation, using stories and anecdotes, and using figurative image such as allegory, simile, and metaphor to persuade his audience.
