Abstract

Sufism is one of the most important manifestations of Islam throughout history, and its religious and ritual issues have always been controversial. The Qadiriyya Tariqat is currently one of the oldest and most sacred tariqats that has followers all over the world. Qadiri Tariqat has different branches: Kasenzani, Talabani, Sulehai. In this article, we examine the Kasanzani branch of Qadiri Tariqat with an anthropological method (based on lived experience, participatory observation, interviews) and answer the question, "What is it like to be a Kasanzani dervish?" Therefore, by participating in rituals, we show that a person becomes a dervish by Beyat, he must perform Tasharrof (ablution, prayer, and adhkar) after becoming a dervish, he performs daily individual zikrs, and in collective adhkar, the Kasanzani tariqat (Samaa) is performed. . In addition, we examine the triple hierarchy consisting of Sheikh, Caliph and Dervish. Then, we compare the covering and appearance of dervishes with non-dervishes. Also, we show who is more likely to become a dervish. Finally, we examine the epistemological sources of Qadri Kasanzani's sevenfold dervish. As a result, a combination of these religious beliefs and actions defines Dervish Kasenzani.
