Abstract

Ayn al-Qozāt al-Hamedanī was a prominent Sufi of the seventh century whose bold and esoteric views led to his imprisonment and execution. These issues caused Sufis after him to approach his life and thoughts with caution. This article aims to show the extent of Ayn al-Qozāt’s influence and reflection in the works of Sufis after him. This research was conducted in a library manner and by surveying the works of Sufis after him. The results of this study show that the views of Ayn al-Qozāt have been of interest to Sufis since the time after him, and although many Sufis have not mentioned his name in their works, a considerable number of famous and prominent Sufis have been influenced by his thoughts. This reflection historically begins with the works of Mohyiddin Ibn Arabi and ends with Masūm Ali Shah Shirazi. Despite the fact that the Sufi community has cited Ayn al-Qozāt's questionable ideas, such as the claim of reviving the dead and sanctifying Satan, and her other halal beliefs, none of them have criticized her but rather praised her spiritual stature, such that some have included Ayn al-Qozāt among the greatest Sufis in the history of Sufism. Thus, despite caution and possible opposition to the ideas of Ayn al-Qozāt, there is not much boycott among the Sufi masses towards him, but from their perspective, he is considered one of the most prominent figures in the history of Sufism.
