Abstract
Maruf Karkhi is one of the great Islamic mystics of the second century AH and the head of many mystical Orders and Paths; for this reason, he has been called "Sheikh al- selsela" and "Imam al- Sufiyyah," and the Orders leading to him has been called "Marufiya" and "Umm al-Salasel."The most important and controversial period of his life is his historical and spiritual connection with Imam Reza (AS), which occurs in two periods of his life - childhood and old age; in the first period, he converted to Islam at the hands of the Imam (AS), was educated by him, and began his spiritual journey; and towards the end of his life, for a short time in Karkh,of Baghdad, he was honored to serve the Imam (AS) . Despite the research conducted on this subject, in most of them, this connection and relationship has been doubted or even rejected; therefore, in this article, we have tried to prove this historical connection in both periods of the famous Karkhi's life by citing library sources and descriptive-analytical methods.
