Abstract

Conceptual metaphor theory is one of the new approaches in the field of cognitive linguistics, which is used as a tool for text analysis. This theory was first introduced by Lakoff and Johnson in (1980) and created a tremendous change in the understanding and reception of metaphor. According to this theory, metaphor, contrary to traditional rhetoric's approach to it, is not considered merely an ornament of words and does not belong to literary language, but is considered a mental and perceptive process, and in fact, it is a mechanism based on which Abstract and complex things are defined, described and understood based on objective things and personal experiences. One of these complex and abstract topics is "annihilation", which is one of the most fundamental topics discussed in Bidel Dehlavi's poems. This essay seeks to analyze in a descriptive-analytical way what is the category of annihilation in the poems of Bidel Dehlavi, in order to determine the answer to the question of what sources Bidel used to make the complex and abstract concept of annihilation appear more objective. The results of the research show that Bidel, in order to perceive death as a destination, uses objective sources such as dew against the sun, hot and burning, bubble against the sea, drop against the sea, linen against the moon, shadow against the sun. moon/light, fading of the night in the dawn, ...., and one case has used the intellectual origin of sandal.
